This is where it all began for me. My dad was larger than life. He was a great athlete and a hard worker. Born in 1903 he started his career as a papermaker in the Paper Mills of Lee MA when he was only 14, staying with the same company for over 50 years. He became the superintendent of the paper mill even though he only had a H.S. education. He taught me how to play golf, have fun and become a man. He would always say if it is worth doing, it is worth doing well. That still rings in my ears after all these years.
I always considered being a Dad my greatest vocation and although I had a good career and pursued a lot of my dreams, the foundation to it all was my family and my 3 boys. Helping them grow up to be quality men and good Dads was always the priority. So reflecting on this day I have to say they all turned out to be good people and great Dads.
This has to be one of my all-time favorite photos. We took this in November of 2011 and it was the last time we were all able to be together. At the time I thought it would be a great to get a shot of all the men in our family, besides the girls always outshine us. I have this hanging in my office and is the one shot that will probably stay up for the duration.
The photo was taken with Canon 7D, 70mm, F8, ISO 1000, 1/125. Processed in Silver Efex to give it the timeless look of Black and White.
Wonderful pictures—happy Father’s Day, John,.
