Here are some photos from my recent trip to the west coast. I love the ocean and it sure would be a fun place to live near. Always something to see and a good place for walks.
The Cement Boat
The S.S. Palo Alto is the most famous Concrete Ship on the west coast. It was a fun place to take photos as it had lots of wildlife, Seagulls, Pelicans and lots of activity to keep your attention. The sun was setting and I captured this shot with my B+W 10 stop ND filter to make the water a creamier foam and to soften the clouds. Taken at 4 seconds at F8 I am becoming a big fan of slowing down the shutter to get a different feel. I know if I lived near water I would use it all the time. Living in the desert I haven’t had that much opportunity for this technique.
The pier gave me some more opportunities to create.
Hi John,
A guy built a concrete boat in Ohio to sail on lake Eire then around the world, 35′ long , he built it in the back yard, after the shell was done a crane turn it right side up and they finished it in the drive way… They sold the house sail away and we never heard from again!!
