This past week we had the 14th Annual Laveen Community Parade. Living in Phoenix it made me feel like I was back in a small town, with the floats, horses, small cars, motorcycles and dancers. It had all the usual stuff that goes into such an event.
I grabbed my camera and my 70-200 with the idea of getting some photos and seeing if I could capture some of the essence of the event. I developed most of the photos in Silver Efex Pro for Black and White to give it the historical feel I was looking for. I love the texture that Black and White provides and I only used color in 5 of the photos. With the photo of the clown I loved the red nose and tie of the clown so I muted the other colors to give it the emphasis that I thought it deserved. I didn’t have to do much to the girl in the straw hat as the light that fell on her face told the whole story. Grover from Sesame street had all the bright colors on his green John Deere tractor. I always like the Shriners with their little cars racing around in circles. It looks like they are all having such a good time.
Well done. You are really building up a nice body of work.
