MIM Musical Instrument Museum

It has been a while since my last post. Busy I guess, or not motivated with all my other distractions such as golf, trying to learn how to play the piano and my time enjoying life in general.

My condolences to the Cleveland Indians who beat my Red Sox and then lost to the Cubs, Ohio being my second home I was rooting for them.

I’ve still been out taking pictures and I have a number that I need to share.

MIM is a must see if you are coming to the valley. There is so much to see that you could spend a couple days there.

From their website: “MIM displays more than 6,500 instruments collected from around 200 of the world’s countries and territories. Most displays are enhanced by state-of-the-art audio and video technologies that allow guests to see the instruments, hear their sounds, and observe them being played in their original contexts—performances that are often as spectacular as the instruments themselves. What’s more, all guests are invited to play instruments from around the world in the Experience Gallery. They can also see instruments from music icons such as John Lennon, Taylor Swift, Elvis Presley, Carlos Santana, and many more in the Artist Gallery.

The details on some of the guitars done with  several varieties of shell, reconstituted stone, and finely detailed engraving were just spectacular.

Here is my vision of the MIM.

Enjoy

“Dragon I” electric guitar

Pearl Works, inlay

Paul Reed Smith vision of a Dragon Guitar fully came to life in 1992. With a design by Jude Van Dyke of the Paul Reed Smith Band, the inlay is made from 201 individual pieces. This example is one of the only two made with mother-of-pearl wings: all other were made with blue turquoise wings. Despite its hefty original price tag of $8,000 and limited edition of fifty guitars, the “Dragon I” quickly became an iconic collector’s guitar.

Some more to look at. I know it is a lot of  photos.

  1. Hi John- Great to hear from you. Susan and I are enjoying the grandkids. Don’t think that I will ever retire. We just were on team for a Light of the World retreat. Fascinating experience of Evangelization and I believe that we will Susan and I will be on team again. This weekend it is Holly Pine Lane again ( Marie and Larry’s 27th year – they say that they are retiring this year).

God Bless you, Louise and the family and thank you for all of the positive Spiritual impact that you have had on me and my family.

Thanks for the kind comments. Sounds like you are having a full life. Don’t need to retire if you are still loving it and knowing you that is probably the case.
