City Shots

It has been a while since my last post. Recently I took a job counting ballots for the City of Phoenix as way of getting out of the house and picking up a few extra bucks which allowed me to upgrade my camera. Back in 2016 I purchased a Fuji XE-2 and some really good lenses and as I watched the Fuji system grow in stature I developed a desire to purchase their new XT-3. This camera pretty much took care of my wish list of features for an all around good camera, with the ability to shoot in low light as well as being good for action such as sports and birds.  This has increased my desire to get back out there and try some new things. So in the future you should see some different kind of shots and hopefully some growth in my photography.

While I was downtown counting votes, on my lunch breaks I started walking around the city getting some exercise and taking photos of the beautiful architecture. I’ve started posting on intstagram and you can follow me at johnthomas8610

Nice shots of our fair city! I spent some time looking up your new gear. Nice! I’m being left behind by the mirrorless generation. I see Fuji has a pretty nice 100-400 too.

Yes, I’m finding the camera does so many things my 7D couldn’t do and is so much lighter. I have the 100-400 and it is really nice. Shooting wildlife with a quiet shutter and having a much better high ISO make a big difference.

Hi John, nice images, i need to do the city shot sometime, been there at night, but on that night there was some safety issues.
Sounds like you pretty happy with the new camera, sounds like a winner..
I’ll think about you when shooting my 600mm (4.25lbs) plus the camera etc..(;-))

I didn’t know you had a 600. That is a big lens. I get there with my 100-400 and an extender but it is not the same. Let me know if you want to go downtown at night.
