There is a wonderful spot in Gilbert AZ called the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch. There are close to 200 species of birds that inhabit the area at different times of the year. It helps to have a long lens and some patience to get the best closeups of these wonderful creatures. Being in the desert, it is best to go from October to April for the most enjoyable experience. I was over there some this summer and with temperatures in the 110˚ range it was not that comfortable. Pond #6 seems to be the best spot but there are subjects to shoot at all the ponds.
